Bethesda’s ‘Elder Scrolls Online’ will become free to play for a weekend, and then some. PC and PlayStation 4 players will be able to download the game tomorrow, 16th November. This extended weekend event will not be available for Xbox. Bethesda did however mentioned details on a free weekend for the Xbox One will be revealed “soon.” The Elder Scrolls Online weekend will not require PlayStation Plus. The Xbox One, however, will require an Xbox Live Gold membership.
The original game was released back in June, 2015. It received mixed reviews and scored a 71/100 on Metacritic. The MMO adds to the Elder Scrolls universe perfectly. If you’re someone who’s enjoyed Skyrim, Oblivion, and Morrowind, then this is a great game to play for free. For those that are intimidated by classic MMOs and their UIs, Elder Scrolls Online will ease you into the genre. Like TERA, the game is controlled with mouse aim and keyboard binds, making it playable on console.
Below is a quick breakdown of what’s included in the upcoming free to play weekend:
- Access to the full The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited base game
- 500 Crowns to spend in the Crown Store on fun costumes, unique pet, helpful scrolls, and more.
- Any characters created, Crown Packs purchased, or Crown Store items bought, as well as any progress made during the free play weekend, will carry over if the player purchases the game.
Players who participate in the Elder Scrolls Online’s free to play weekend qualify for Bethesda’s “Trip of a Lifetime” giveaway. A giveaway by Bethesda where players could win an all-expenses-paid trip to exotic places around the world.
To celebrate the game’s free weekend. Bethesda will discount all versions of the game and micro transaction currency. Given the fact that Bethesda are allowing all progress to be saved, this will be a great opportunity for all players to make as much progress as possible.
Let us know if you’ll be downloading the game and what you think of it. We’ll also be downloading the game and giving our thoughts later.
